Feb 29 2012 Leap Day!

I pity those born on leap day. Cold and very heavy rain today. Ugh. I'll list what I've read since my last post:

Dark Challenge by Christine Feehan, paranormal romance, 5th in the Carpathians series. I Love this series. 4 stars.

Protected Love by Carol Lynne, 2 MM short stories: Never Too Old/No Longer His. Two words: bor-ing. 2 stars simply for good editing.

The Wedding Duel by Karen King, historical romance. 1st in a 3 book series. All I can say is, WHY did this woman stop writing? She is a Fantastic Writer. Loved the story. 5 stars.

Demon Possession by Kiersten Fay, SFR. Self-published. This book started out really good. But in the, end the horrible lack of editing ruined it. It read like a rough draft, which was no where near ready for publication. 2 stars, only because I liked the beginning.

Twilight of the Dead by Travis Adkins, Zzzzombie book. Really enjoyed it. Well done, plenty of great action. 4 stars.

Cattle Valley 9 by Carol Lynne: Neil's Guardian Angel/Scarred. MM. Pretty good. 3 stars.

Cattle Valley 10 by Carol Lynne: Making the Grade/To Service and Protect. MM. Better. 4 stars.

Anaz-Voohri by Vijaya Schartz, SFR. Self-published, but what a difference! Fantastic story, great editing, really Loved it. 5 stars.

Cast in Stone by Kerry Jones, paranormal romance. Good story. 3.5 stars.

Cait and the Devil by Annabel Joseph. Historical erotica. I really enjoyed this. Well written, though I find it hard to believe 6 weeks went by at one point near the end. 4 stars.

A Subtle Breeze/When the Dead Speak by Bailey Bradford. Contemporary MM. These were not that great....I particularly disliked the idiotic sheriff in the second story. Waaaay too much sex in these stories. 2 stars.

The Wedding Affair by Karen King, historical romance. Second in the series. Excellent story. 4 stars.

After Twilight: Walking With the Dead by Travis Adkins. Zzzzombies. 2nd in the series. Really good...but no 3rd? Why not? Good stuff! 4 stars.

Jacob's Faith by Lora Leigh, paranormal erotica. Ooooo love me some Breeds! I Love this series! 4 stars.

Aiden's Charity by Lora Leigh, paranormal erotica. Just had to read the next one right away. Love love love! 4 stars.

Spores by Ian Woodhead, ebook, monster/alien/viral sort of story. Self-published and yeah, needs a ton of work. I won't be looking for the sequel. 2 stars. (Good idea gets a point).

Prime Prey by Kaenar Langford, scifi erotica. If you are looking for a book that is 95% sex and 5% lame-ass plot, this is for you. Seriously, the best thing about this book is the cover. Skip it and you'll thank yourself! 2stars. (Only because of good editing).

Feb 07 2012

Books I've finished recently:

A Midnight Clear by Karen L. King, historical romance. Paperback. This book was so good I gave it 4.5 stars!

Crazy for the Storm by Norman Ollestad, nonfiction. This was ok. Parts were good, parts were boring. I was glad I was reading the paperback so I could skip parts easily. 3 stars.

The Masterharper of Pern by Anne McCaffrey, fantasy. Not sure if I read this one years ago, or not. It was ok, but definitely not a favorite. 3 stars.

Last Man on Earth by Michelle Pillow, erotica, EC Quickie. It was ok, really short. 2 stars.

Etched in Silver by Yasmine Galenorn, urban fantasy, short series prequel. I really liked it. I hope I will like the series as much. 4 stars.

The Haunted Igloo by Bonnie Turner, children's fiction. Read it to my daughter, really good. 4 stars.

Trusting Them by Marla Monroe. Erotica. Pretty sorry. Poor attempt to copy a Maya Banks book. 2 stars.

The Suitor by Sandy Hingston, historical romance, paperback. It was ok. 2.5 stars.

Ride for the Roses by Christina Kingston, historical romance, paperback. Very good! 4 stars.

A Most Reckless Lady by Sandy Hingston, historical romance, paperback. This one was really good. 4 stars.

Runner of Pern by Anne McCaffrey, fantasy, short story, it was ok. 3 stars more for loyalty's sake.

Bastian by Tianna Xander, pnr erotica. It was all right, the editing could have been better. 3 stars.

Beneath the Neon Moon by Theda Black, pnr mm. It was all right. 3 stars.

The Wicked House of Rohan by Anne Stuart, historical romance, short series prequel. It was really good but so short! 3 stars.

The Emperor's Wolf by J.C. Owen, fantasy mm. Wow! This was Excellent! I will definitely be reading more from this author! 4 stars.

Shifter Made by Jennifer Ashley, pnr romance. Very short series prequel. It was good, 3 stars.

A Tarnished Heart by Leslie Dicken, historical romance. Two of the most idiotic characters ever. Unconvincing story. 2 stars.

Now reading: Dark Challenge, which is Carpathians #5 by Christine Feehan. I just love her Dark series. Such hunkalicious men. They can boss me around any time.

Started on a whim last night and stayed up WAY too late reading: Demon Possession by Kiersten Fay. It's scifi romance, very good but needs a qualified editor to go over it.

Booksfree selection: The Wedding Duel by Karen King. Haven't gotten far, as the Dark book distracted me. It's good, though.

Eve Hallows and the Book of Shrieks by Robert Gray. Reading to my daughter, and it's really good.
