Confession: I'm an ereader junkie. I have so many I don't know what to do (said the old woman who lives in a shoe). I love my ereaders, they are all such good little children. They never talk back or make messes, though sometimes they exhibit stubborn qualities.
Here are my Currently Using devices, not listed in preferential order.
As of January 2017, I read mostly on my Kindle Voyage or Kobo Glo HD. Also have a Kobo Aura HD and a Mini.
The Voyage is my favorite.
===============================================
Kobo Glo - May 2013 - bought new with free official cover. Best reader, in ease of use, with Calibre, and in text layout options, and in lighting. My favorite! Sold the official cover and using a Chinese slim fit that is perfect. Also got a white one as a back up.
Kobo Mini - had to get another one. I just love it. Wish it had a slim fit case. I have a black and a white one.
Kobo Aura - Love the look, size, feel and weight of this. The screen is not as good, the text not as dark and sharp. Would love an updated version with better contrast.
Kobo Aura HD - Simply awesome screen. Love the way it looks. But I prefer a smaller device. I use this one only at home.
Nexus 7.2 (2013) Tablet. Simply the best. Used with Calibre Companion and Moon+ Pro.

Outdated opinion -
Which one do I like best? Hard to say, they all have qualities I like. The size and weight of the Sony and Paperwhite are the best in that respect, and the cases I have for those are so slim and nice, they are the best. The organizational abilities (in conjunction with Calibre) are superior on the Sony. There is no beating that. The Sonys are my work-horses, housing entire libraries. The Kindles can't handle that kind of load so I try to keep them under 200 per device. But overall, I do like the Kindle Paperwhite best.
Yes I prefer to read on e-ink devices. The Fire, while not much bigger, is much heavier. The Sony and PW are so light and thin, they are always the first choice for taking out of the house.
Update 6/13/13 - There are things I like better about the Paperwhite, and things I like better about the Kobo Glo. For ease of collection management, the Kobo Glo wins.
What would I like to see in a future e-ink reader? A hybrid between my Sony and my PW. I want buttons, more space, like the Sony, with all the good stuff of the Kindle. Update to this paragraph - Forget the buttons, don't care. Would like more space. Finding I prefer the Kindles to the Sony's more and more. Update 6/13/13 Now I have one with more space, the Kobo Glo!

UPDATE 11/25/12. Sold my Kindle Keyboard 3G, and the kids' Nook Color. Got a good deal on a 2nd generation Fire to replace the NC with. Then decided that will go to the younger daughter, and got Lenovo A2107 for my older daughter. (Christmas gifts). They are going to be thrilled, and I am already thrilled not to have to deal with the NC any more.
Update Jan 2013 - SOLD - The 2nd Gen Kindle Fire really is better.
Kindle Fire (1st gen) refurb. Love it, though don't read a lot on it. Mainly for news and stuff like that. Great for streaming netflix, amazon video, pandora, good for checking weather and facebook mobile, all in all I love my little toy! Bought End of March 2012.

This diatribe makes no note of previous ereaders...the Kindle was not my first. I previously had an ebookwise 1150, a Jetbook Lite, a Jetbook. My daughter currently has an Aluratek Color (piece of junk)

I am so glad the Nook Color is gone. Running android on it from an SD card, was ok, though there were problems throughout the year. Running the Nook Color without the card was fine, if all you wanted to do was read B&N books. But their app store sucks big time, and even trying to search it is a PITA. No more Nooks in this house.

Two more days...I have been playing with/setting up the New Kindle Fire and the Lenovo A2107. So far, I really like them. I think the girls will, too! I just wish the Lenovo had a micro HDMI out. I'd really like to get a tablet with that feature. If Amazon will put the Fire HD7 for $150 or less, I'll bite. Was thinking of the Lenovo A2109, but the Cnet review isn't that great. However, it is larger, which I might like.....time will tell....birthday in March! UPDATE-I hate the Lenovo. It is just not near as nice to look at as either of the Fires. My daughter likes it, so that's all that matters. I won't buy another of those, however.

Decided to sell my Kindle Fire (1st gen) and get a Kindle Fire HD. My little girl's New Fire is faster, smoother, and has a better battery life. I'll wait til they go on sale again, in the meantime, I can use either of my girls' tablets.

I now have in my hands a Kindle Touch. These were released November 2011 but I never liked the look of it. However, a recent update made the UI just like the paperwhite, except for the light. So I found a good price on one with the official lighted case, and got it. It arrived today, I updated the software, and it is really nice. (Especially since I finally got the Calibre metadata plugboard to do what I want it to do). Wow! Putting one of the Sony T1s up for sale immediately. Might sell them both. I really like this Kindle UI. The Keyboard might be going bye-bye too.
Kindle keyboard wifi. My very first Kindle! I was so thrilled. I recently applied a jailbreak and put on my own screen savers and added some fonts. It currently harbors non-series MM books and YA books. Bought November 2010. Gifting to my mother!
Red Sony T1. Got a deal that was too good to pass up. Recently had to skin it, though, as I grew to where I could not stand the red color. Holds a huge library of several genres, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, romance suspense, historical romance. Organization on these Sony's is a breeze with Calibre, and holding 3000 books does not impact performance, as happens with the Kindles. Summer 2012. SOLD.
Black Sony T1. March 2012. Birthday present. I hacked it to run android, which was fun for awhile. Recently removed the hack and use the stock firmware with a couple of tweaks. Holds a huge library of erotica and MM series and author collections. SOLD May 2013
Onyx Boox Firefly - summer 2013. Kept for about 2 months then re-sold. Did not meet my needs.
Kindle Touch (wifi with special offers) Jan 2013 (used). With black lighted case. Love it! When I read that the latest update made the UI just like the Paperwhite, I had to see for myself. Black skin ordered to cover the ugly silver front. With the lighted case, it's a little heavier than the paperwhite. Gave to my mom.
Kindle Fire HD 7". This tablet rocks! The best I have had. Love it! Added Feb 2013 - bought used - gave to my daughter
Kobo Mini - bought used April 2013. LOVE it. Best reader, in ease of use. Sold because no light.
Nook Simple Touch - used - Now this is a lot nicer than I ever thought it would be. When I discovered that books can be arranged in folders and sub-folders, I had to try one out for myself. It meets my expectations! I was not thrilled with the font choices, and I had to root it with Nook Manager in order to put my choice of font on it. I also put Mantano reader on it. Now, it is a nearly perfect device. Pleasant to hold light weight, page turn buttons, home button, beautiful text display. One drawback - no light. So....SOLD
Kindle Paperwhite. Oct 2012. I was hoping they would release a high-def touch-screen Kindle with a new user interface, and they did! The front light is a bonus, and I love how handy it is. Love the light. Love the screen. Great UI and new home screen look. Wish it had some buttons, and very disappointed that they actually reduced the on-board storage. Traded in for new generation.
Kindle Paperwhite 2nd generation. Sept 2013. Improvement over the original, so I had to get it. It's the same size as the original, and the same low amount of memory...but it is much faster. Maybe next year they'll reduce the size and increase the storage....RETURNED DUE TO BAD SOFTWARE UPDATE December 2013
