My Summer Goals

I hate the new look of the private blog page. Can't even find where to click to start a new post! Whatever. I found a link for the "old interface" or something and that worked.

So I have taken myself in hand, so to speak, and have committed myself to not joining any games on PBS for the entire summer. That includes Virtual Boxes. It's time to catch up on some series reading! I've made a list (I have always been a list maker) and it contains about 52 titles. That is totally do-able in 3 months' time. Some of them are short stories. So, my goal is not to read anything except books on this list (and additional titles in the same series, if desired) + whatever booksfree brings in the mail (I tried to cancel it but they gave me 3 months at half price. How could I refuse that?)

For the rest of May I need to finish or abandon the 10 books that I have started (some of them, quite some time ago!) Then I may begin my summer reading. Maybe at last I can read some things I have been putting off b/c something new catches my eye, or strikes my fancy, and I diverge from the path!

Anyway I just finished Wolf Hills by Bianca D'arc. First I had to read the preceding 5 stories in the Brotherhood of Blood series. They were ok, nothing great. The last one, Wolf Hills, was pretty good. The best of the series, certainly. I look forward to reading the next one! But now I have to go and read the parallel series, Tales of the Were, which consists of 3 stories. So that is on my summer reading list.

May 8, 2012

Ok, new look here to get used to. Great. Well. Time to catch up on my reading of the last month.

A Moment's Madness by Helen Kirkman, historical romance, started but didn't get too far. It just didn't interest me so I quit! Maybe I'll go back to it. Some day. If I run out of stuff to read
.A Moment's Madness

The Living Dead by and the Zombie Hunters by Rhiannon Frater. A kid's zombie book. I thought it was great! 4 stars. Loved it.
The Living Dead Boy And The Zombie Hunters

Z: Zombie Stories (anthology). The first story, also the longest, was the best. In fact, it was fantastic and extremely well done. It's worth getting hold of this volume just for that one story. The rest of the stories, not so good. None memorable. Many started but not finished.
Z: Zombie Stories

How to Kiss a Hero by Sandy Hingston, historical romance. Excellent. Well written and good story. 4 stars.
School for Scandal: How to Kiss a Hero

Dark Fire by Christine Feehan. #6 in the Dark series. Loved it, though there was some repetitious stuff, she tends to do that a lot in this series. 4 stars.
Dark Fire (Dark, #6)

Sex: Outlawed! by Jan Springer. Really short futuristic erotica. I liked it. 3 stars.
Sex: Outlawed!

Subject 13 by Ethan Stone (MM) It was pretty good. 3.5 stars.
Subject 13

The Perfect Creation by Marie Harte. Scifi erotica. It was good, though I didn't realize there is another series about different characters that takes place previously. 4 stars.
The Perfect Creation (Creations, #1)

The Affair by Sandy Hingston, historical romance. Really good. I think it's the last one I have to read of hers, so sad. She was good. 4 stars.
The Affair

Earthly Concerns by Xavier Axelson (MM) My first by this author, and it was really good. I liked how there was a theme binding the story. Excellent and well done. 5 stars.
Earthly Concerns

A Fool Again by Eloisa James, historical romance, short story. It was good....3 stars
A Fool Again (Duchess Quartet, #1.5)

Lily by Xavier Axelson, (PNR/MM). It was pretty good. But strange. 4 stars.
Lily

In Her Bed by Jan Springer. Futuristic erotica. #2 in the Desperado series. It was good. 3 stars.
In Her Bed

Be My Dream Tonight by Jan Springer, futuristic erotica, #3 in the Desperado series. Didn't like as well as the other 2. Good. 3 stars.
Be My Dream Tonight (The Desperadoes 3)

Barely Mistaken by Jennifer LeBreque, contemporary romance. Pretty good. 4 stars.
Barely Mistaken (Harlequin Temptation, #886)

Dark Legend (Dark, #8)

A Girl's Guide to Guns and Monsters (UF anthology) some of the stories were good, some, I didn't read. And 3 out of the 13 featured lesbians. Seems like a high percentage. 3 stars.

And now the series I am reading: Brotherhood of Blood by Bianca D'arc. I love this author. But these stories are pretty mediocre. I've just read One and Only, Rare Vintage, Phantom Desires, Sweeter Than Wine. 3 stars each. Now reading Forever Valentine (which is very short) and then on to the last one, Wolf Hills.
